Hives in the Vineyard
This is the Orange hive. It was painted by family and friends. It is the most active hive yet and has survived a cold winter.
The blue hive was painted by Annika. Our bees help us by pollinating our plants and producing yummy honey. We get our bees from local sources and transport them safely into their new hive home.
The bees are a big part of wine making too! They pollinate the flowers on the grape vines which is needed for the grapes to grow. Two hives are located near the vineyard so the bees are encouraged to help out the grapes.
Our bee journey may be coming to a close. We have not had a hive last two winters even with heavily insulated hives. This decision is ongoing.
